*A Humanitarian Success Story: A Village That Once Suffered from Water Scarcity Now Thrives with Life

In the village of Sheikh Salem, located in the Abyan Governorate, daily life was once exhausting and difficult due to the severe shortage of drinking water and water suitable for use. Residents had to walk long distances under the scorching sun, often relying on donkeys to fetch water. The hardship wasn’t limited to adults—children were also affected, as they were pulled away from their education to help collect water.
From this hardship, a ray of hope emerged. *Jana Foundation for Family Development* intervened by drilling an artesian well equipped with a solar power system and a 5,000-liter water tank. This project created a transformational shift in the lives of the villagers.
Today, water is within everyone's reach and close to their homes. The suffering has eased, and children have returned to school. It is a true humanitarian success story—one that made a lasting difference and strengthened the concept of sustainable development in a village that once struggled, and now enjoys a better quality of life.
